$40.00 Labor (Desktop)
$80.00 Labor (Laptop)
WHY are laptops more expensive? Take a look underneath your laptop. Usually there are 2 small plastic plates that unscrew, providing easy access (in most cases) to the hard drive and some or all of the memory chips. However if other internal parts need to be accessed, it gets ugly for the repair guy. Some laptop models require literally HOURS of work just to reach certain parts, such as motherboards, followed by more work putting them unit back together. Often the dismantling and putting back together process must be repeated more than once. The process of merely determining which part has failed often involves swapping out parts found deep inside your computer with known healthy parts, then restarting the computer after putting it back together. Often it is more cost effective for the customer to simply buy a whole new replacement laptop instead.
